Mulholland gained national attention for involvement in the Bruce Hershenson vs. Barbara Boxer campaign. Mulholland leaked a rumor that Hershenson was into porn and frequented a porn shop. Mulholland was "fired" by the Democrat party, then rehired weeks after Boxer won. He is also known for his work to block a 2007 censure resolution against California Senator Diane Feinstein for her vote to support the nomination of Judge Michael Mukasey as United States Attorney General without a vote.
